I have an abundance of mirrors and Buddha statues in my house, most of them in the literal sense, but I’d like to tell you about another pair of mirrors in my life – my elderly cats, Sid and Nancy. Their habits, challenges, and personality changes really mirror my own experiences of aging, solitude, and preference for certain routines. My cats and I share a mutual understanding and acceptance of our current stages in life. I can learn a lot about myself through what they show me.

Love this Sweetheart. Big smile.
What a sweet piece, Akasha. About Nancy’s “catterwalling”. Have you tested her hearing? If she is beginning (or has already become) deaf, she might quite literally be trying to find out where everybody is. If she can’t hear you, she’s calling to see if you answer. Cynthia had a cat who came back from having her ears cleaned at the vet stone deaf and she would holler loudly (usually in the middle of the night) trying to find someone. You might investigate this. Not much you can do about it, if she is going deaf, but it at least would explain her nighttime outbursts. 16 is good long life for a cat, even a loved indoor cat. You are so lucky to still have both of them with you. May you have many more years together. Love to you, my friend, and a Happy Thanksgiving.
